Meet Sam's Horse Friends, Milly and Major

Hello my friends, I'm Shepherd Sam and welcome to my farm. Baxter and I love having visitors come spend time with us. Every day is a new adventure, and we're so glad you're here. Come on, Baxter, let's go see what our farm friends are up to today. Last time we visited Larry the Llama while he watched over the sheep and goats. Today we're going to meet two more very special friends. Come on, let's walk over to the horse pasture. Can you hear that? That's Millie. Isn't she beautiful? She's a beautiful golden color with a brown mane and tail. She's one of the most gentle horses you'll ever meet. She likes when I scratch behind her ears. Her favorite treat are fresh apples. And someone else wants to say hello. And you hear those little feet? They're getting closer and closer. Here he comes. That's handsome little fella is Major. Major is Millie's young colt. He looks just like his mom. He's growing a little taller every day. He's curious about everything. Sometimes he runs because he's happy. Sometimes he runs because butterflies fly by. And sometimes well, I think he runs just because running is fun. That's right, Baxter. You like to run too. Major loves making new friends. When children come to visit, he walks right over to them and sniffs their hand. He's still learning good manners, so sometimes he gets a little excited. Millie always keeps a watchful eye on him. If Major wanders too far away, Millie calls him back. And before long, here comes Major trotting right back to his mom. Watching them reminds me how much mothers care for their children. Whether they're horses or sheep, birds, or people. God filled parents with love for their little ones. And that's a wonderful gift. One morning I watched Major trying to do something new. He wanted to jump over a little log. To the colt, the log looked very big. The first try he stopped. And the second try, he wasn't quite sure. Millie stood nearby, calm and patient. Then Major took a deep breath, galloped forward and hopped right over the log. Good job, Major. Sometimes learning something new takes a little courage. The important thing is to keep trying. You know, every one of us learns a little more each day. We learn to read, we learn to help, we learn to pray, and we learn to trust God more and more. And just like Major is growing stronger, we grow too. I think Millie is telling Major it's almost lunchtime. And I think they're both getting ready for a nice bucket of grain. I hear Baxter barking. I think he's telling me the mail has arrived. Let's walk over to the mailbox and see what we've got today. Oh, here's a letter from Emma in Tennessee. She asks, does Larry the Llama ever get scared during thunderstorms? That is a wonderful question. Thank you, Emma. Well yes, sometimes Larry does get scared, but he always makes sure the flock is safe first. He will let me and Baxter know to get everybody to safety. So when I put the flock away, Larry is there to help. So yes, it's okay to be a little scared during a thunderstorm, but remember God is always with us to keep us safe.
